If you had one of the Glee kids be your best friend, who would you choose and why?

That's a tough one! I think I'd want Kurt because he's awesomely queer ;)

Which of the Glee kids (not teachers) do the following remind you of and why?--- Isabella--- Phineas-- moi--- mine--- you

Isabella - Quinn! She's popular, but after 1 mishap her world turns around 360, and she has to change her ways. ;P

Phineas - He's probably a Finn. Good guy, may not always be sharp-witted but he makes for a great friend and companion :D

you - Mercedes! In true diva form, you always seem to be in the spotlight - if not, you search and crave for it at times! ;)

me - Tina. I'm usually regarded as a loner or a loser, but I suppose I don't really care. All I know is that I'm an awesome person (to me ;p) and I have REAL friends to acknowledge that! :D

I don't quite know if I asked you this already, but, well, reading is quite a dying habit amongst the youth. If you had to promote it, how would you?

I don't really know! As Queen, I can only do and suggest so much,; but in the end I will have to pass that on to my Prime Minister because she has that fervor and passion for education that the world needs now :)

Give me one selfless and one selfish wish you'd love to come true.

selfless - I would like everyone to be more tolerant of each other, especially in the aspect of religion. There are too many wars going on because of religion, I would really like it to stop.

selfish - I want my wallet (and bank account) to be full of cash all the time so I can buy all the clothes/shoes/books/silver Sharpies/etc. that I have always wanted. :D

Hey :) Did you get what you wanted for Christmas?

Not quite, but I did get some nice clothes and shoes and a few accessories - a girl can't really argue with that ;)

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

If you were the President (or Queen! Your choice!) of the Philippines, what would your first act be and why?

Oooh! This would be difficult. As the Queen of the Philippines (HAHA) I would have to first consult with my advisors (that's you, Cid, Myungs, Diana, Marice, etc. :D) before issuing any decrees.

But I suppose it would be to lower import taxes so imported goods wouldn't be so expensive! D:

For some reason, I give you full creative control for my wedding. How would my wedding be? (Right back at you!)

I don't really know how to answer this because I would probably be asking you all the little details! :p

But for the wedding reception, I'd probably make it a little bit Broadway-themed because I know how you love the theatre :)

I'll also ask you to sing at my wedding! What song/s will you choose and why?

This one's easy - Come Away With Me by Norah Jones :) I know how you love this song, so it would be a shame to NOT sing it at your wedding!

Describe the following adorable girls:--- Isabella and Phineas' Padme--- Will and Emma's (er...my) Danielle--- Chanon and Suchin (er..your) Lawan

Padme - A bit frail and pixie-like (like her mom when she was young), with long black silky hair. Shy and soft-spoken, especially to people she isn't really familiar with. Aspiring painter. Loves brazo de mercedes and leche flan. Goes to painting lessons twice a week.Quite reminiscent of a younger version of Violet from The Incredibles. :D

Danielle - Slim and lithe with long curly hair. Quite talkative, she speaks with a British accent. Sophisticated and very intelligent, loves to read classics (also like her mom! :D), and likes to try on her mom's shoes! Aspiring theatre actress. Loves strawberry ice cream and blueberry cheesecake. Goes to ballet lessons thrice a week. Quite reminiscent of Wendy from Peter Pan, albeit a younger version :D

Catalina/Lawan - Slightly plump, with sparkling brown eyes and shoulder-length wavy hair just like her mom. Adorable and friendly. Intelligent and likes to read as well. Likes to help out in the kitchen when Mommy is cooking, and likes to take photos with Daddy's camera. Aspiring photographer. Loves chocolate cake and milkshakes. Sings along while Daddy plays guitar/piano. Goes to voice lessons thrice a week. Quite reminiscent of Boo from Monsters, Inc. :D

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

Fill this in: I feel most loved when __________________.

..someone compliments me, and I know they aren't saying it just because!

And for some reason, I feel loved when I'm drinking a nice, warm mug of coffee!

One very simple thing that can change the world if everyone did it is _________________

..be a little more tolerant of each other's religions. Too much war's happening because of religious difference. I'd like that to stop.

If Victor and Bogs went to your house then stole your dad's Harley Davidson only to find out that they are going to Eurotel in front of SM Southmall, what would you do?

OH. MY. GAHD.

First of all how would they steal my dad's Harley if the keys are in my house and there's a lock on the handlebars + wheel? XD

Anyway, if they're going to Eurotel..Pwede naman sila magtaxi eh! But well if they plan to do SOMETHING.. I'd try to sneak in and film them para may scandal. PWAHAHAHAHA~

Then I'd invite the gang to watch along with me. LOL

What do you think would be a perfect wedding present for Isabella and Phineas? How about Will and I? How about you and Chanon?Oh, and please all explain why!

For Isabella and Phineas, I'd give them a mix CD of rap and hiphop songs - so that Phineas can relive his hiphop days and Isabella can laugh :))))) But seriously, I'd give them a puppy. :D

For Will and you, I'd give him a bunch of literary classics, I suppose; to add to your Mt. Libris! And I suppose a whole bunch of earrings for you! :p

For myself and Chanon, I'll leave that up to you!

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

Continuation of the adverb questions: Life is beautiful when you ___________ see the world.

Life is beautiful when you see the world with an open mind and an open heart. (I hope you don't mind me altering the sentence construction!)

Tourism ad: Why should Chanon come to Manila? Give him your best reason!

Because its diversity and melting pot of cultures makes it a place like no other! Where else can you find colonial structures (Intramuros) dotted among skyscrapers and picturesque shopping malls (Makati, QC), as well as the beautiful suburbs (Las Piñas, Parañaque) around? :D

Follow up to the tourism thing: Since you guys want him to move to here, why, then, should _____ do so?

..because he'll get to meet real-life Blair and Serena! :)) And he'll meet all the other friends that make your life wonderful ;)

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

As a lawyer, what do you think would be the legacy you want to leave?

Hmmmm. I believe that I would like to leave a legacy of integrity, hard work, and that the occasional crazy time with friends won't hurt anybody ;)

Fill this with appropriate adverb/adverb phrase. Explain why: I want to hold the hand of the person I love ________________.

..with a feeling that my hand just perfectly fits into his. :)

Love is real when it __________ makes its way in your heart

..patiently and carefully makes its way into your heart.

I believe it's also real when, even after you see all the Beloved's faults and downfalls, the Lover accepts and embraces those faults and still loves the Beloved unconditionally.

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

Chanon wants to learn Tagalog for you. Which three sentences will you first teach him and why?

1. Mahal kita. - Need I explain, really? :))
2. Magkano ito? - In case he wants to go shopping, or sightseeing, or whatever. :D
3. Saan yung ______? - In case he wants to go somewhere. :P

Let's say I already live in _________. When I come back to Manila for a visit, where will you take me and why?

Hmmmm. I suppose around Greenbelt or Town, it's the quintessential hangout spot. Plus all our favorite stores are there ;)

If you were to interview a literary character other than those from Love in the Time of Cholera, who would it be, why, and what would you ask them?

It would have to be Ursula Iguaran (Buendia) from One Hundred Years of Solitude, another great work from Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I admired her tenacity, her outliving all three of her children, and seeing quite a number of generations grow. She kept the Buendia family together, even though she contradicts herself by the fear of incest - the extreme of family bonding.

I would ask her how she remained steadfast and what kind of strength it took her to live so long and experience so much conflict and wars, and at the same time love and passion.

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

Change sounds like _________.

..a resounding gong. :D

If they were to make a film of your life, tell me your choices for:- Film genre?- Director?- actor to play youAnd why, of course!

It would probably be a romantic comedy with a hint of drama. Make that a lot of drama. As much as I am filled with love, apparently that's not what the rest of the world is looking for, and I always get hurt in the process. *sob* But I have my friends to keep me laughing :D

Director, I don't really know yet. :p

I'd want Leighton Meester to play me, because she's Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, and my closest friends tell me that I'm quite like Ms. Waldorf :)) And I suppose I kind of look like her, too! :D

. You are Ying. You just found out that not only does Mew not like you beyond friends/might-as-well-siblings but that he is in love with Tong. How would you react to the news?

I would be hurt, of course. But I suppose I'd have to accept that Mew loves Tong. As much as I love Mew, I will love him despite him not returning his feelings; I would love him anyway because I feel that it would still be right and quite noble to do so..

Nichkun comes to Manila and insists on a duet with you. Which song would you sing with him?

It's a slightly obvious choice: ENDLESS LOVE! I actually adore the Glee version of this! <3

If you were Fermina Daza, would you still end up marrying Juvenal or would you choose to be with Florentino? Why?

I would still marry Juvenal. As romantic Florentino is, his obsession really creeps me out. I mean, eating camellias and rose petals so he could "eat" a part of me? That's just.. creepy.

I know Juvenal isn't perfect either, but I know beneath his intellectually harsh exterior is a man with a caring and very much loving heart. Doesn't hurt that he's rich and high-society, too. :))

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

Stupid question: If both Danielle and Isabelle really did look like my carbon copies, what would you say to _________ and the rest of the _________ family?!

OH MY GOODNESS. :)) Uhmm.. I'm really sorry, _____ and Mr. and Mrs. ______, but it seems Allie's multi-cultural lineage wins these 2 rounds! :))

. Fill this one in: One simple thing that never fails to make me smile is _______.

..a box of chocolates, or a large Double Chocolate Ice Blended from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf! Or, a text/Facebook message from someone I love :) (yourself included!)

Tell us one superficial and one rather deeply profound thing about you?

superficial: When I eat fried chicken, I peel the crispy skin off and save it for last. :))

profound: I am capable of loving beyond physical constraints.

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

Manuel Quezon said that he'd rather see this country run like hell by Filipinos than like heaven by foreigners. If you were Quezon, seeing our society now, would you retract that? And why?

I don't really know how to answer this, I'm sorry. I was never really interested in politics and governance (although I should be if I'm pushing through law school). Just being honest. :D

If you could bring two people in an island and live there for 1 month, who would you bring and why?

Can I add 1 more?

So that it would be Such, Pai, Kans and Myungs all on 1 island! :D

Reason for that, because you are my best friends and I would love to keep you for the rest of my life :)

Wisdom tastes like __________.

..coffee. A little bitter, but with the right amount of milk and sugar (experiences and life choices and the such), it's not so bad. A little complicated, yes. But that's the way it is

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

formspring.me

If you had to give up one sense organ, what would it be and why?

Perhaps taste, because I really don't know what I would do if I lost any other sense.

If I gave up sight, I would not be able to see all the beauty waiting to be seen.
If I gave up touch, I would not be able to feel my (future)newborn child's hand grasp mine.
If I gave up hearing, I would not be able to hear the words I would love to hear someday.

If I gave up smell, I would certainly miss cinnamon buns. :P

If this week were my last in Manila, what would we do?

First reaction: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?? WHYYYYYYYYYY??? *sobs sobs sobs*

We would go all out and have a party, soak up all the Manila culture and flavors before you leave for ___ and be with ______! :D

If ____ and I get married, would you baby sit Danielle and Isabelle? And if so, what would you do?

But of course! I mean, you did babysit for Catalina and Carlos (Sanouk :p)! Chanon (or whoever I get married to :D) would probably bring the twins (?) to a nice, and cozy restaurant and have a nice lunch. Then we would probably go to the park and people-watch. Your girls will probably be very intelligent, I suppose they could discuss a philosophical thing or two with me!

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

Diversity sounds like _____________.

..tambourines and conga drums, with a hint of Spanish guitar :p

Name me your top 3 favourite musicals and why you love them.

I've never actually seen any Broadway plays even on YouTube, so I mostly watch musical films to compensate. :D

1. Gigi (the 1958 film starring Leslie Caron)
2. West Side Story (a modern Romeo and Juliet)
3. The Sound of Music (a surefire classic)

You are Glinda. Elphaba has asked you to come with her and fight the Wizard (that scene from Defying Gravity). Will you come with her or stay with Madame Morrible like she did in the play?

I have never seen Wicked, I'M SO SORRY :(( But I promise as soon as I do I will get back to you on that. Help enlighten me? :D

If you were a song on Glee, which one would you be and why?

Oooooh, that's pretty tricky. I actually love all their renditions of songs.. to pick one would be like having to pick a favorite child! :O

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

formspring.me

Date a bad boy who has a good side or a total good boy but is kinda boring?

HALA! Hindi ko alam. XD I'll get back to you on that :))

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

formspring.me

Gabriel Garcia Marquez or Paolo Coelho?

As much as I like Paulo Coelho's philosophical and reflective style of writing, I love and adore the magic realism and somewhat surreal romanticism of the works of Gabriel Garcia Marquez! :)

Be the anonymous donor of a project for an entire community or personally help 1 child?

I know I would help an entire community by donating a large sum of money, but I won't be entirely sure that the money would be put into good use. If I help only 1 child, I know where my money's is going, plus I help to build the life of a child. It would make my heart leap for joy if this child grows up and matures to become a man of substance, purpose, with a heart full of love and compassion for family and for mankind.

If 1 (and only 1) female literary character were to suddenly come to life, who would you like it to be and why?

FERMINA DAZA from Love in the Time of Cholera. (An obvious choice for me :p). She is independent, headstrong, sophisticated and capable. Beneath her seemingly harsh exterior, there is a woman who is caring and nurturing. Sometimes I feel like I am a real-life Fermina.

Fill this in: I am invincible because _____________.

..God tells me that I am so.

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

formspring.me

I'm a troll and I hate you. :)

Oh, are you? I never really liked trolls anyway.. But thank you for being honest. :)

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

Phantom of the Opera: Erik or Raoul?

I have never watched or read the Phantom of the Opera, so as soon as I do, I'll get back to you on that. :D

If you had to pick any of the Glee boys (character, not actor) to be my boyfriend who would it be?How about for you? Who's your Glee boyfie?

For you, it's MR. SCHUE! (Oooh, that rhymed!) You two would make a wonderful couple because you both have great voices, and lovely hearts as well. :)

OH MY. It would have to be ARTIE! I know he's stuck in a wheelchair for life, but I get the feeling he's a real sweetheart. I think his being in a wheelchair is a permanent lesson of humility and a reminder that we should all be passionate in living - it's the only life we have!

And don't deny it, Artie's pretty cute ;)

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

formspring.me

Which August song best describes you and why?

Definitely GUN LAE GUN! Besides being the theme song to Love of Siam (which I owe you so much for getting me hooked on it :D), it's a beautiful song with lovely lyrics.

AS LONG AS YOU LOVE, THERE IS HOPE. :)

I am constantly loving, hoping, wishing, waiting, LIVING. :)

Fill in the blank: Change starts when ______________.

..you decide to do something about it.

You may think, or want, or wish to change.. but without action, nothing happens. It's the same with anything you want to achieve - if you don't do something about it, then nothing will happen.

Sometimes actions do speak louder than words, you know. :D

What are your three favourite Bisaya aords, what do they mean and why do you like them?

gugma - LOVE. Need I say more?

amigo/amiga - FRIEND. I suppose this is also self-explanatory? :)

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

formspring.me

Sawasdee ka, Suchin Mai! Chanon proposes to you, but asks you to give up your law career in exchange. Would you do it?

Hmmmm.. if Chanon can secure a job that makes him (and myself, if he does propose) financially stable (and perhaps more HAHA for my shoes XD), then perhaps I would do it.

But if my law career is going awesomely well, and money comes in at a meteoric rate.. I'm so sorry Chanon! If you do want to marry me, please do it out of love and I hope you don't have to make me compromise what makes me, well, me!

Fill this one in: (name of book/literary piece) is so overrated.

the Twilight saga. I swear, to have an entire series about some empty shell character who has this love for someone that borders on obsession.. That's just not my thing.

What is your favourite adverb and why?

BEAUTIFULLY. Because I know and believe that there's something beautiful in all of us :)

When did your interest in literature start? Who inspired you to dive into the wonderful world of literature?

I think it was my dad. He is quite the voracious reader, although he prefers Ludlum, Crichton, etc. He bought Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's (or, Philosopher's) Stone for one of my grade school Recognition Days (that's like "graduation" for undergrads), and I suppose my love for reading became a love for literature!

I still love my Harry Potter books, but Love In The Time Of Cholera is my all-time favorite, as you know! :)

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

formspring.me

Fame over wealth or wealth over fame? Hi Kyung Mi! :)

Annyeong haseyo MyungHee! That's a hard question D:

Uhmmmm if I have fame, I'll be talked about, as well as gossiped and such. If I have wealth, then people will try to steal my money and break into my house and stuff. D:

Fame over wealth nalang. XD

Ask, and you shall get answers. They won't always make sense, though. :D

As much as I like Ms. Hepburn's classic elegance, I have to admit I adore Marilyn Monroe's bombshell looks and va-va-va-VOOM factor!

P.S. I still get the red dress (the one you helped me pick, no less!) out of the closet once in a while, just to see how nice it looks on me. Bisous to you for that again! xoxo

How is your love life?

It's non-existent, thankyouverymuch.

Ask, and you shall get answers. I don't promise they'll always make sense, though. :D

Hmmm. Small towns because of the privacy, big cities because of the hustle and bustle!

But I think the suburbs are awesome :)

Natalie Portman or Keira Knightly?

Natalie Portman - she's awesomely smart, talented, and beautiful!

Linguistics or literature?

As much as I would like to learn foreign languages, I am not privileged to be enrolled in a foreign language school or the sort.

So, literature it is! :)

Ask, and you shall get answers. I don't promise they'll always make sense, though. :D

Given a regular pentagon with a side of 15 cm, what is the area of the largest square the you could place inside it? (Round off to 10 decimal digits)

I'm sorry, I'm bad at math. D: I only barely passed Math subjects during high school because I was nice to the teacher (HAHA) and I exerted enough effort to let the teacher see that I was studying. XD

Are you happy with your life?

At the moment, not really. I can't drive (because of my mom, ngrrrr), I need to lose weight (obviously), and most of all I STILL DON'T HAVE A RIDE FOR FRIDAY! FUUUUUUUUUUU~

Ask, and you shall get answers. I don't promise they'll always make sense, though. :D

formspring.me

Be president or queen of the Philippines? And why?

Hmmmm. I'm not really sure. President, because it would be nice to know that my constituents have faith in me. Queen, because I would be able to have that position out or royal/noble blood, or, I would have supposedly been conferred by God. :D I like that appointed-by-God idea. I think I pick Queen :))

Ask, and you shall get answers. I don't promise they'll always make sense, though. :D

formspring.me

Do you have any sort of reputation where you work/ go to school?

Not any that I know of. But the profs/admins/registrar/PR people/other employees do know me as Atty. Raterta's daughter, because my dad's the trial lawyer of the school!

Ask, and you shall get answers. I don't promise they'll always make sense, though. :D

Once Upon a September: Chapitre Quatre - I believe.

I never knew that I would live to see terrible natural calamities to hit Metro Manila.

I lived through Milenyo, which knocked out the power lines, sent small trees flying, and brought down billboards.

And now I have lived through Tropical Storm Ondoy. The storm likened to Hurricane Katrina, even exceeding its rainfall with 410mm (that's 16.8 inches) in only 8 hours. That is probably a month's worth of rain.

I actually did not know that it caused so much damage in Marikina, Pasig, and other
parts of Metro Manila until I saw the news. I thought that it was just a really bad, rainy day..

Saturday.

I was at school to attend a seminar on leadership and the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. I was actually hesitating to go since it was already raining, but eager to learn (haha), I attended on behalf of the entire PsychSoc (whodathunk I'm 2nd year level rep?). I went to the MPH in the Tropical Building, registered, and took a seat beside my friend Jam; the vice-president of CommSoc.

During the snack break we were happily gobbling our pancit and puto when the lights suddenly died. We heard the roaring wind and torrential rain as we tried to divert ourselves by having a few games, headed by the speaker, Luigi. A few minutes later, Sir GJ said that we would have to tr
ansfer venue - the MPH at the College Building across the street. As we went down the stairs to the Tropical Bldg. parking lot, we noticed.. Tropical Avenue was more of Tropical River already, with the water even reaching to where the tricycle station was. GOOD GRIEF, how were we supposed to transfer? O_O Good thing there were shuttles to bring us there.

Back to the present.

I am now listening to Astrud G
ilberto and at the same time talking to by best friend Cid while wondering what to type next into this blog. :D

Ah, here we go.

I believe that Ondoy came for a reason. To remind us that with all these plans and laws on protecting the environment, failure to realize this in forms of policies and advocacy for disaster preparedness results in times like this, where people have been greatly affected and devastated by a tropical storm. WHAT MORE IF IT WAS A TYPHOON?

I believe that the fortunate should help. We were fortunate enou
gh to have our homes still standing, our water still running, our food supply still sustainable, out internet access still accessible. Why don't we do something and help by donating canned goods, drinking water, clothes and other items for the affected. Schools and other organizations, even individuals, have been volunteering and soliciting help in the form of usable goods and other means to help the affected. THE LEAST WE CAN DO IS HELP.

I believe that the Filipinos are, and will always be, the race of the brave. During these troublesome days we have witnessed heroic acts. People who braved the floodwate
r to save not only themselves, but others as well. 6 military men have perished saving those who needed help. A mother grieved over her son who died in the floods but is proud of him for saving 30 people before he did. A judge who saved over 100 people on his jetski. These selfless acts have shown us that there is still hope for the Filipino people. If these people were brave enough to help others rather than themselves, then we can be brave enough to pull ourselves out of the slump and show the world how we really are - A NATION WHO CAN WITHSTAND EVEN THE WORST OF STORMS AND STILL HOPE FOR A BETTER FUTURE.

Let Jericho Rosales and Gerald Anderson (and his brother too) be examples to all of us.
They were selfless enough to brave the raging flood to save others.
We should at least be selfless enough to help the affected.

I believe that the government, as well as other politicians, should shape up, and that the budding presidentiables should prove themselves before actually running. If they can spend so much on early campaigning, on motorcades in different areas of the country, on expensive trips abroad to watch the latest Pacquiao fight, on expensive dinners in New York - can they spare a portion of that vast sum to help the people who need it most right now? Can they spare some cash for the thousands who have lost perhaps all they possess except a few pieces of furniture and clothing, and a Santo Niño? CAN THEY, FOR ONCE, DO SOMETHING RIGHT AND BE SELFLESS ENOUGH TO CARE FOR THE PEOPLE THEY ARE SUPPOSEDLY SERVING?

I believe that the Philippines will find the silver lining in this obnoxiously enormous gray cloud, and pick up the pieces and rise up again in this world.
I believe that we will clean up our reputation as a corrupt nation and that we will find it in ourselves to be better than ever.
I believe that we will live another day, another week, another month, another year.

I believe that God is trying to tell us something.

I believe.
I believe.

I believe.

And you should, too.

Once Upon a September: Chapitre Trois - Studio Ghibli is ♥ (a break from the heartache)

What I'm feeling now: How surprising, I haven't thought about you that much today. I still love you (I promised, didn't I?), but I don't think I'm in love with you anymore.

Things have never been the same. Nowadays, when I'm not feeling depressed, I feel lethargic, and because of the erratic weather, migraines sprout up now and then. But then again.. I have more time for myself and for the things I love to do!

For example..

Hayao Miyazaki films!

If you've paid attention / are paying attention to my status messages, you know that I've recently been appreciating Studio Ghibli films.Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation film studio (here's a link to the Wikipedia article for it), founded by acclaimed director Hayao Miyazaki.

Now back to the movies! (haha)

So far, I have watched (in order of viewing :D) Princess Mononoke, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and Kiki's Delivery Service. They are all amazing movies in their own special ways.

Princess Mononoke - I like how it depicts the struggles of supernatural beings (spirits, demons) with the humans who live and consume their environment. How they showed the boar spirits actuall creeped me out, and when the boar god Okkoto got consumed by the demon, that really FREAKED me out. You have to watch it to believe it, haha!

Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea
- This hasn't shown in theatres yet, even
though the original one was released last year. I love this because it shows the innocence of childhood, as a little goldfish girl named Ponyo who meets and befriends a human boy, Sosuke. (Fun fact: Ponyo likes HAM. :D) If the plot won't get to you, the mere cuteness of it all will! I don't know about you, but I like cuteness. :>

Spirited Away - Chihiro's adventures in the spirit world to save her parents (who unfortunately transformed into pigs) kept me on my toes. I did not dare pause the movie because I was so engrossed with it. I like the bathhouse parts because you could see all the different spirits and supernatural beings who came in to relax and soak in warm bath water. I loved the English dub because it sounded, well, right. Not like..

Howl's Moving Castle - I think they could have done a better job in the voice casting of Howl. I mean, CHRISTIAN BALE as Howl? That's crazy. I think that Howl is actually a very good (and quite jolly) person, even taking in Markl off the streets after Markl's parents died. Putting that aside, it's a heartwarming film, with the power of love as one of its main themes, as Sophie learns to love Howl despite his reputation as a mysterious wizard who eats the hearts of beautiful girls.

Kiki's Delivery Service A wonderful coming-of-age tale of a young witch-in-training and her journey from reliance to independence as she sets off to find a town where she can stay and hone her skills, because when young witches turn 13 they must leave home for a year, as tradition says. I liked that her black cat Jiji wasn't just a plain cat, it was a talking, witty, cat!

The next film on my list? MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO, possibly Miyazaki's most famous work!

Fun fact: In the TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aang's pet sky bison, Appa, is actually based on the Catbus in My Neighbor Totoro for its design. And yes, I am also a big fan of Avatar. :D

It's nice to have a diversion from the stresses of life. ♥

And I am now officially moving on :)

Once Upon a September: Chapitre Deux - Bring on the Heartbreak (and Heartache)

What I'm feeling now: I am CONFUSED - I hate him but I still love him, I know I don't want him but I feel that I still need him. He's my best friend but he's the one who broke my heart into a million pieces when he promised he'd be the one to keep it together.

A couple of nights ago.. I was online on MSN, talking to Mallika (my one and only Belgian friend, how I love you so).. And while I did, I felt tears running down my cheeks. My delusional boyfriend, Chris Pine (yes, THAT Chris Pine, thankyouverymuch) wiped my cheeks with a handkerchief, and hugged me tighter than usual. We (Chris and I) talked to Mallika and Milo (Ventimiglia, yes, THAT Milo Ventimiglia). She knew I was hurting and the conversation quickly transformed back into real life.

After I went offline a little later (Internet was being really stubborn and crappy), I got ready for bed. Thinking I was okay, I laid myself on my bed, and closed my eyes.. But I couldn't get to sleep..

..I was crying again, but the tears were more torrential. I seriously thought I would be okay, but I guess the pain was too much for me to restrain. I knew the tears would come, tonight was the night the inevitable would happen.

I cried because I was hurt.
Because the one I loved the most broke my heart.
Because he promised me forever and a day.
Because he seemed to fill that hole in my heart.
Because he knew me the most.
Because he was my best friend.

..because I still loved him.

I thought it was time to let someone else know. I picked up my mobile phone, and scoured my phonebook for a friend. It was quite the unholy hour, perhaps around 2am. My heart was breaking and I knew I couldn't face it alone. I found a name, an old friend from a church in Manila that my family used to go to (we still do, albeit occasionally). Not knowing what to say and still in tears, I pressed the Call button.

He knew I was crying and he told me he was just listening. I couldn't talk, I couldn't breathe. I just cried because it was the only thing I thought I could do at that time. I was drowning, slowly drowning. I hung up a couple of minutes later.

I still felt like I had to tell someone.. I scoured my phonebook again, and I came across a name. It was a fairly new friend, from the church my family currently attends. He was someone older than me, and I admit I was hesitant to tell him.. but I did. (Over text this time. I seem to have more to say / talk easier over text. Strange, I know.) I ended up falling asleep, exhausted from crying.

I woke up the next day with puffy eyes, and it stayed that way the whole day.

And today, I realized..
..it's going to take a while. For me to forgive him, for me to stop being angry, for me to pull myself out of this depression.. For me to move on and live life again.

But in the back of my mind, and in a little quiet and empty space in my heart..

..I still love him.
I always have.

I'm waiting for the day when I can laugh wholeheartedly again. That day when I can laugh without pretensions, without fear.

(But then again, in this photo.. I was just making myself laugh. XD)

Once Upon a September: Chapitre Une - A Surprise Visitor

*note: copy-pasted from my Facebook notes since I wrote it there first. :D*

What I'm feeling now: I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE, YOU'VE BEEN BREAKING MY HEART FOR THE PAST MONTH WITHOUT APOLOGY OR EVEN A TEXT OR EMAIL OR IM. Geez. It's over.

This past month has been so much stress and emotional warfare, that for the past couple days I have been nothing more than a hollow shell, only to be filled with depression; as well as experiencing a drop in self-esteem. What would make one feel more unloved by being ignored by the one person who promised he would love you forever.

Shame on me for believing you. And to think it was your birthday a few days ago.
Tsk tsk.

But today one of my foreign friends happened to be online on MSN (how I love you, MSN.) and I told him about it. It was quite the lengthy conversation and I'd rather not divulge the entire thing.. Although I will post a bit for your viewing, er, pleasure. XD

_____

Thomas says (12:08 AM):
i want to show how beautiful u are

Marianne says (12:08 AM):
thomas
i really wish you were here

Thomas says (12:09 AM):
what woud u do if i was

Marianne says (12:11 AM):
i would hug you so tight, and cry until my eyes get red

Thomas says (12:12 AM):
dont cry babe
hes not worth it
i wanna look into ur eyes
tell u everything will be alright
_____

I was pleasantly surprised. Someone new had come into my life, and although he was thousands of miles away (he's Irish, huzzah! okay, bad joke lol) he was telling me that everything would be alright; though I had cried for over an hour then.

My eyes were all bloodshot and slightly puffy from crying (yuck, I know) but then again.. I really couldn't help crying. It was too hard to accept that the one I loved the most would just leave me hanging, with no reassurance or hope that he was coming back. I didn't even understand why he left in the first place.

For some reason fate brought someone new to me, someone who would give me even the slightest glimmer of hope, that I would bounce back from this heartbreak feeling so much better. Someone who made me feel so much better, I would get on a plane to Dublin in a heartbeat. (That is, if I had the money. Of course.)

A dear friend of mine taught me something very important:

Never give up in faith and fate.

So I guess things get better and brighter, after all.

Thank you, Thomas. I owe you a whole lot.

Someday I'll find a man who'll make me feel like this everyday.
Like I'm jumping for joy, extreme happiness, and/or bliss. Whichever amounts to that.

P.S.
Special thanks to Ate Abbi and Kym. You two have inspired me to write again. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope to see you soon!

Extra special P.P.S.
To my best (and only) Belgian friend, Mallika D'Huys: You have been such an angel. You knew about this first. Words cannot really express how much I am grateful that I have a friend like you. Thanks for being my best friend waaaaay back in 1st year (SUHS, huzzah! XD) and I am also grateful that you are still one of my best friends today. Come back soon, okay? Bring Milo! Chris and I will be waiting. ♥

A quick update. :D

Rebekah's debuspedida was a great night! :)

Met 2 wonderful guys who made my night more memorable. :)

Ohmygahd it's TOMORROW! :O

Dress, check.
Shoes, check.

Makeup, check.

Accessories, kinda check.

Hair.. I'll get back to you on that. :D

HOLEY CRAP IT'S TOMORROOOOOOOOOOW!
REBEKAH'S DEBUSPEDIDA!

Not too obvious I'm excited, eh? :)))) But I'm also a bit sad since it is still a despedida after all. :( Bekah's leaving for the States and I miss her already!

And since I feel like I'm in a storytelling mood, let me tell you a story..

..about how I got my dress. :))
_____________________________________________

Monday night last week (17th Aug), I went online on Yahoo Messenger, nervous on how and where I would buy a dress for Bekah's debut. I didn't exactly know what to pick since it's a vintage-themed party.. And I have no idea how to do vintage. O_O

Luckily my friend Allie was online (as usual :D), so I decided to ask her.

Marianne Raterta (8/17/2009 10:29:34 PM): what time are you free tomorrow? :)
Toni Alexis Araneta (8/17/2009 10:29:42 PM): Morning?
Marianne Raterta (8/17/2009 10:29:48 PM): afternoon :)
Toni Alexis Araneta (8/17/2009 10:29:49 PM): Or 4:30
Marianne Raterta (8/17/2009 10:30:19 PM): what time will you be dismissed?
Toni Alexis Araneta (8/17/2009 10:30:31 PM): 4:30
Marianne Raterta (8/17/2009 10:31:57 PM): do you think you can go to town?
Toni Alexis Araneta (8/17/2009 10:32:04 PM): I suppose so
Marianne Raterta (8/17/2009 10:32:59 PM): oh, what's your definition of "vintage"? :)
Toni Alexis Araneta (8/17/2009 10:35:10 PM): Hmmm
Toni Alexis Araneta (8/17/2009 10:35:42 PM): Vintage could mean classic
Marianne Raterta (8/17/2009 10:35:58 PM): oooh
Marianne Raterta (8/17/2009 10:36:08 PM): that's the theme of my friend's debut, i need to find a dress..
Marianne Raterta (8/17/2009 10:36:14 PM): and i'd love it if you help me! :)
Toni Alexis Araneta (8/17/2009 10:36:33 PM): I think you're a little bit of a Marilyn Monroe
Toni Alexis Araneta (8/17/2009 10:36:44 PM): So you could use her as an inspiration
Marianne Raterta (8/17/2009 10:36:51 PM): ooh!
Toni Alexis Araneta (8/17/2009 10:36:51 PM): And I'd love to help you
Toni Alexis Araneta (8/17/2009 10:37:11 PM): Yeah
Marianne Raterta (8/17/2009 10:37:30 PM): thank you! >:D<>I think you're a little bit of a Marilyn Monroe.

MEEEEEE? A classic screen siren, a bombshell? Really now. (-_-)

The next day, we did go to Alabang Town Center. We decided to go check out Get Laud because they have some pretty nice dresses for under Php1000. Good, since I only had like Php700 on hand. GAH. D:

But suddenly Allie saw this awesome red dress in the store's display.. A ravishing multi-way dress in a shade of deep red.. I was dumbstruck. It. Was. Beautiful.

But then.. Would it suit me?

I tried it on (with a little help from the saleslady since the fabric was so long.. After all, it's a multi-way dress so the long strips of fabric are there to twist and tie around as you please :D) Allie was also in the changing room with me (quite a tight squeeze, but heck, she's my best friend :p) and when the lady was done fixing the dress..

Oh.
My.
Goodness.

It was absolutely GORGEOUS. Allie even said so! (I trust her every word, really.)
And so I bought the lovely red dress. Php650 isn't too bad, actually!

I tried it on again as soon as I got home, and I showed it to my older sister. She liked it :)
I also showed it to my parents a few days after, they like it too :)

Last Sunday my dad and I bought these awesome black and red shoes from VNC.
Monday I bought some makeup and worked it along with my existing makeup at home to attempt to recreate Marilny Monroe's nude eyes and fire engine red lip.

NO I AM NOT EXCITED :))))))))))

Oh, and I tried this quiz on Facebook, and look what it says..

EXCITED :D

Forgive me for not updating often. Somehow my mind is in such a muddle that I don't know what to talk or blog about! Although things are going better than before, thank you very much.. :)

There are 2 things that I am excited for:

  1. Rebekah's debuspedida [29th August] - You read that right! It's a debut + despedida since she's leaving for the States. :( It's vintage themed.. and I had no idea how to do that. :| I asked Bekah what her definition of vintage is, and she says to "think Broadway, mafia, or Public Enemies." But I quite like what one of my best friends Toni said:

I think you're a little bit of a Marilyn Monroe.

  2. BigBang Philippines' (BBPH) 4th Gathering! [20th September] - I have to have to HAVE TO go to this! I really want to meet my fellow BigBang fanatics! Excited excited EXCITEDDDDDDD :D Thing is, it's all the way in PASIG CITY. Noooooooooooo D: And I have to save up for the ticket, so good luck on that.

'Til whenever.

Time to pick up the pieces.

Thailand was amazing. Words really cannot describe how wonderful the country is. I have completely fallen in love with Bangkok.

However, that is not what's dominating my thoughts right now.
Do forgive me whilst I am wallowing in my melancholy.

HE'S LEAVING, AND IT MIGHT BE FOR GOOD.
BJ is leaving in a few minutes, and I still can't get over the fact that he's actually leaving..

I texted him a few hours ago, and that's when I found out he was leaving at midnight.

I thought I was over him. But for some reason, when he told me the news, I just froze and started to cry.. And when he said that he might not come back, that's when the tears started to flow, a stream down my cheek as I felt my heart clenching.

I guess I'm not over him after all.. :""(

And I don't have much to say, the feeling is too overwhelming..

But..
I still love you, BJ.

Current Facebook status:

I thought I was already over you, but when you told me awhile ago that you were leaving at midnight for the States, I froze up and cried. And when you said you might not come back, the tears flowed even more. Not even my friends could comfort me that easily.. :"( The only thing I regret is not telling you how much I truly loved you. To be honest.. I still do. Always have, always will. Goodbye, BJV. I'll miss you. ♥

Retaliation.

In high school, I didn't have a group of friends from my batch. Sure, I knew them. But it's not like I was friends with any of them.

Thank goodness I found friendship with a bunch of people from the batch lower than me. I felt more attached and at home with them than anyone in my batch. I am eternally grateful for them, really.. It's just a pity I found them during my senior year :(

Other than that, high school was like going through hell on earth for me. I was made fun of which I would rather not talk about any more.

But times have changed now I'm in college.

And I'm happy to say that I am a much better person than those who bullied or made fun of me ever were.
I'm not a bum, a party person nor someone who got pregnant. I am not a drug addict nor a college dropout.

I am not, and never will be like any of you bastards and whores.

..to cut it short I am happy with the person I am.

Yes, I still need to lose weight, but other than that, I like who I am.

DEAL WITH IT.
People actually LIKE me for who I am. I don't need to pretend to be anyone else. And I don't have to stoop down to your level to retaliate. Just knowing that I AM BETTER than any of you, that's satisfaction for me.

A little bit of color. ♥

Recently I've downloaded Photoshop CS2, and there's this certain photo effect that I love to use. Because of it, my recent Facebook stat and one of my recent Plurks have this statement:

"I'm a polychrome girl, and I live
in a little polychrome world."

What's polychrome, you ask? Well, to keep things simple, it's another world for colorful. :)

I like to say that my world is colorful, because I have friends who make it so. My friends keep me happy, comfort me when I'm sad, defend me when people attack me, and keep me company in everything in between. It's color to me. And because my world is colorful, I say that I'm colorful as well. I can make friends with just about anyone, and I'm proud that I don't belong in any particular clique (which I consider quite demeaning, like you're only restrained to the certain clique). I get along with different people from different backgrounds, and I want it to stay that way.

And let me leave you with a photo of me which I applied the photo effect on (I hope you like it, by the way!):

"I'm a polychrome girl, and I live
in a little polychrome world."

Thailand at 18! ♥

The title refers to ME! :D

I'll be going to Thailand to celebrate my 18th birthday, and I can't wait! July seems so far away but it's only less than 2 months before the big trip! :) It was only supposed to be my dad, best friend Cid, and myself, but now my mom and little sister are coming too. I don't actually want my little sister to come, she's a bother and a nuisance, seriously! It's my birthday so I should pick who should come, but it's my dad who's paying so there. Sh!t. Oh well. I'm planning to explore with Cid on our own around the city, haha. Or at least shopping ;)

I've been looking at some travel sites and based on that, I'd love to visit Wat Phra Keo, the complex within the Grand Palace (pictured above) is located! I'm interested to see the Emerald Buddha! Speaking of Buddha, I'd love to go to Wat Traimit and see the 3-meter tall Golden Buddha, made of 5 -and a half tons of gold! If I'm lucky I could even put some gold leaf on the statue! :D

I'd like to visit Chulalongkorn University (Pailin goes here :p) and perhaps look around and see what it's like.

I'd also want to visit Assumption University, because that's where CHANON studies! :D So much for motivation, eh? ;)

And of course why would I miss out on Siam Square! Parts of my favorite Thai movie, Love of Siam was filmed there, and I'd love to have pictures there and pretend that delusional Pitch and delusional Non were waiting for me there! :D

To shop for clothes (wheeeeeeeee~) I'd probably go to the Platinum Fashion Mall. I heard it's Divisoria prices in an airconditioned shopping mall, OHMYGAWD! :D And you get things for cheaper when you buy them in quantity, like 3 pieces of more! OHMYGAAAAAAAWD are you drooling yet? =P~~

I don't really know what else to expect, but I'm excited for the unexpecteed (hopefully good things :D)! :)

Someday the three of us will go there together! :)

Why don't you GET LOST? :)

Tagged by Toni. :)

There are a whole lot of places where I'd like to go someday.. Make that a whole WORLD of places! ;) In the words of Discovery Channel: The world is just awesome. And I'd like to see that for myself. :] If I had the funds for it, I would definitely go to these wonderful countries.. :)

_____________________________________________________________________________________

THAILAND

The Land of Smiles! The photo is of the Grand Palace in Bangkok. :)

My good friend Pailin (Toni to everyone else) introduced me, and infected me with the love of Thailand. CHAN RAK PRATHET THAI! :) I've always wanted to go to Bangkok, to explore this thriving commercial city and wander through Buddhist temples, journey on the Skytrain, taste wonderful Thai cuisine, and meet the people. And not forgetting the shopping districts! :D To Chiangmai, the Rose of the North, with its long history and age-old traditions. And it's the birthplace of my husband (haha), Witwisit Hiranyawongkul! (Sorry, Myungs! I got him first. ;) You have Boomy!) I want to absorb its breathtaking scenery, the wonderful gardens, the arts and crafts.. :) And to Phuket, with its world-reknowned beaches! Sun, fun, great seafood? All that, and the warmth of the Thai people.. What more could I ask for? :) Again, CHAN RAK PRATHET THAI! I love Thailand! :)

__________

JAPAN

The Land of the Rising Sun. The photo is of Tokyo at Night. :)

The country intrigues me with its blend of its rich past with its revolutionary present. I'd like to go to Tokyo, where global business begins its day, Godzilla's playground, home of the Pokemon (I love em!), where East and West collide. It's called the World's Eastern Capital for that reason! 30 kilometers west of Tokyo, you'll find the city of Tokorozawa, Kanto region, Saitama prefecture. Within that, I'd love to go to the Goodwill Seibu Dome, home of the Saitama Seibu Lions! I'd like to watch one of their baseball games, and ogle over their infielder, Hiroyuki Nakajima. He's the reason why I continued to watch the 2009 World Baseball Series, along with Yu Darvish, starting pitcher for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters. If I watched one of Yu's games, I'd have to go to the Sapporo Dome in Sapporo, Hokkaido region, Hokkaido prefecture.
Yes. It's practically on opposite ends of Japan (not really, but it's pretty far apart, I Google Earth-ed it), but I don't care! xD I want to go to Japan because of Hiroyuki Nakajima, Yu Darvish, and BASEBALL! :D

__________

SPAIN

La Reino de España.. The Kingdom of Spain! The photo is of the Palacio Real in Madrid.
:)

This one has a special place in my heart. I have Spanish blood from my mother's side (I am a Jalandoni), and it is proudly manifested in my appearance (at least, I think so :D). I want to go to Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia. It is the home of the Sagrada Familia, designed by Antoni Gaudi. It's actually still under construction, but I'd really love to see its stunning architeecture, marked by 18 spindle-shaped towers. The massive church is rich with Chistian symbolism. I'd love to stroll at Park Güell, also designed by Gaudi, a visual masterpiece filled with mosaic, Catalan nationalism, and some elements of religious mysticism and ancient poetry. After there, I'd go to Madrid, the country's capital. I'd go walk around Parque del Buen Retiro, or, the Park of Pleasant Rest. It is filled with sculptures, monuments, galleries, and a peaceful lake. If I'm feeling artsy, I'd go to the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, the national museum of 20th century art, including excellent collections from Spain's two greatest 20th century artists, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. With a rich tapestry of culture and tradition, delicious cuisine, and innate passion, VIVA ESPAÑA! :)

__________

ITALY

The home of many European cultures, Repubblica Italiana! The photo is of the Venetian Canals. :)

I would not miss the chance to go to Venice, where instead of streets they have canals, home to a vibrant Carnivale, the birthplace of romance and passion.. Why wouldn't I go there! :p I'd go to the Piazza San Marco, St. Mark's Square, a popular attraction among tourists, photographers, and the mainstay pigeons! I'd cross the Rialto Bridge, the oldest bridge across the canal and probably the most famous in the city. And I would definitely go to Rome, the Capital of Faith and Culture, the Eternal City, the birthplace of civilization, and where the past and present entwine in perfect harmony. I would visit the Colosseum, the Pantheon, go drop a coin and make a wish at the Trevi Fountain! I'd go to Piazza Navona and visit the Fountain of the Four Rivers. Oh, and the Vatican City, which is actually a COUNTRY! I would like to go to stroll around St. Peter's Square, visit St. Peter's Basilica, perhaps even attend mass officiated by the Pope (though I'm not Catholic, hehe). And how can I miss the Sistine Chapel, with well-preserved art by Michelangelo, Boticelli, Raphael, Bernini and other Italian artists. Italy is a country filled with art, history, religion, and of course, great food! :D

__________

GREECE

The cradle of Western civilization! The photo is of the Parthenon in Athens. :)

The birthplace of Democracy, Western philosophy, the Olympic games, and many more! Greece is filled with remarkable historical wonders and architectural masterpieces. Of course, I would go to Athens, the capital city, one of the original city-states of ancient Greece. I'd marvel at the Parthenon, the temple of Athena, with its Doric as well as Ionic style of architecture and design, with is bas-relief friezes adorning the walls. Another landmark would be the Temple of Olympian Zeus, a colossal ruined temple. Dedicated to the supreme Olympian god Zeus, it was destroyed after being pillages in the 3rd century A.D. Despite that, it still remains a tourist attraction. I'd probably be looking for some, ehem, Greek "gods" too! :))

_____________________________________________________________________________________

These are just some of the countries that I would love to go to someday.

Wish me luck! :)

Puppy love.ü ♥

First of all, I love you, Zach. VERY VERY MUCH :]

I want a Shiba Inu puppy! They're like Akitas and Spitzes, but smaller. Like a little Akamaru
from Naruto! :D

That's Kiba and Akamaru right there :]

Here are some pictures of Shiba Inu, puppies and full grown ones. They're cute, either way!

Puppies! :"> They're soooooo cute ^^

Even the full grown ones are cute! :">

The Shiba Inu is the smallest of the six distinct breeds that hail from Japan, and it was originally bred for hunting. It is also called the Shiba Ken.

Inu is the Japanese term for dog, and the word Shiba usually refers to a red shrub. However, in Old Japanese, Shiba had the meaning "small", referring to the size. This is why the Shiba Inu is also called the Little Brushwood Dog. :]

It is one of the oldest dog breeds, dating back to the 3rd century BC.

*Thanks to Wikipedia, btw. :p*

Down in Mexico.

Ever since Monday (I was still at Clark with my fam) I have had this song stuck in my head.

Down In Mexico by The Coasters. :D

I was watching Death Proof, one of the Grindhouse movies by Quentin Tarantino. I loved how they made it look old-fashioned and stuff. It was cool :P

The song was in the scene where Butterfly gives a lap dance to Stuntman Mike. UH HUH. =)))))))))))))

Moving on. :P

I don't know what to do.

Is it just me, or are my parents making my life a lot more miserable?

  1. My mom won't let me LEARN how to drive. GOD, I'M ALMOST 18. Are your panties on too tight or something??
  2. My dad wants me to get off the computer by midnight. GOD, IT'S SUMMER AND APPARENTLY YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN MY SOCCER PLANS. AND IT'S FUCKING SUMMER ALREADY. Get on with the program!
They are so living in the past. I HATE IT.
